I bought the backpacking kit so we would have some veggies while spending a week on the Appalachian Trail.
Unlike freeze dried dinners, these are just the pure foods. All were delicious. I made various combinations using the beans and veggies, adding spices, rice, noodles, bacon bits and tuna.
I'd planned to save the leftovers for the next backpacking trip, but I've been enjoying them for quick, easy lunches. Soups made with these beans have a much better texture than soups made with canned beans. Our favorite veggies are the cabbage, carrots, celery and peppers.
My only complaint is that the peas never really get soft, even after an hour of cooking. But they do taste good in a soup or with rice.

I purchased two of these Backpacking Kits for my recent hike of the A.T. I was amazed at how many meals I out of just one Kit that I used the second kit in a drop box at the NOC. I added the veggies to almost every hot meal. It sure made noodles and rice taste a lot better. |

We used this kit to add to some "b and r" and to add to a few other dishes to eat on the trail. It's a great selection and really adds to the flavor and nutrition of trailfood when out on a long trip. |
