Great for backpacking meals
I ordered this kit to experiment with FBC for my husband’s upcoming trip to the Grand Canyon. The meals we are able to make with this kit taste amazing – so much better than the store meals! It doesn’t seem like a lot of food until you start using it and see just how little you use to make filling meals. Like others, we had trouble with the corn and peas re-hydrating. I plan on keeping those for soups this winter. This kit is great for an easy, tasty, healthy meal option on the trail. Bonus - meals from scratch are perfect for those in our group who have food allergies to a few ingredients found in almost every pre-made store bought meal. I would definitely recommend this kit.

Great stuff
I bought this kit last summer and have been using it to supplement my own dehydrated food for my backpacking adventures. I love the fact that I can count on HH foods for the basics and all I have to worry about are the fancy stuff. This year I am hiking half the Colorado Trail and used up most of the bags. I know this may sound weird, but I have used the empty bags for other things like holding tea and drinking chocolate. They are sturdy, seal well and don't retain odors. Why not use them again. I did not give 5 stars as the peas and corn never got soft in the same amount of time re-hydrating as all the rest of the veggies and beans, but other than that, I love your food.

Tasty and quick
I bought the backpacking kit so we would have some veggies while spending a week on the Appalachian Trail. Unlike freeze dried dinners, these are just the pure foods. All were delicious. I made various combinations using the beans and veggies, adding spices, rice, noodles, bacon bits and tuna. I'd planned to save the leftovers for the next backpacking trip, but I've been enjoying them for quick, easy lunches. Soups made with these beans have a much better texture than soups made with canned beans. Our favorite veggies are the cabbage, carrots, celery and peppers. My only complaint is that the peas never really get soft, even after an hour of cooking. But they do taste good in a soup or with rice.

Quantity and Quality in a LIGHTWEIGHT pack
I purchased two of these Backpacking Kits for my recent hike of the A.T. I was amazed at how many meals I out of just one Kit that I used the second kit in a drop box at the NOC. I added the veggies to almost every hot meal. It sure made noodles and rice taste a lot better.
